MIGRATION IS SACRED
Linocut (6 x 3 in), 2025.
I made this piece in early 2025, when ICE was beginning to disappear our neighbors. At the time I was working as a fish biologist, caring for and studying Chinook salmon among other species, specifically as their lives relate to hydropower dams. It made me think a lot about the right to safe migration of fish, of people, of every being on this planet. Migration is so beautiful. It brings salmon back to their native spawning grounds, eels to the Sargasso sea, and sturgeon to salty, brackish water. Migration is older than our governments, our border walls, our empire. May every salmon reach its spawning grounds, and may every human find safety. Chinga la Migra forever, migration is sacred.
